How to grow Beetroot Seeds
Beetroots thrive in loose, fertile soil that is rich in organic matter. Before planting, prepare the soil by loosening it with a garden fork and adding compost to improve its texture.
Fun fact, beetroot seeds are actually clusters of several seeds, so you'll need to thin them out as they grow. Plant the seeds about 2-5 cm apart, sowing them 2-3 cm deep into the soil. Water gently after planting to keep the soil moist, but not soggy, and ensure that the area receives at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. As the plants begin to sprout, thin them out to about 8-10 cm apart to give each beetroot enough space to grow.
Beets need consistent moisture, so water regularly, especially during dry periods. You should start to see the beetroot bulbs swell after about 6-8 weeks, and they are usually ready to harvest in about 2-3 months when they are around 5-7 cm in diameter. Gently pull them out of the soil, and enjoy the fresh, homegrown beets in salads, soups, or roasted dishes!
