What are granulated seeds?
The invention relates to a method for producing granulated seeds comprising seed grains which are coated by a covering layer.
The method has the following steps: providing seed grains; introducing a binder onto the seed grains, thereby obtaining seed grains coated with a binder, and introducing a covering compound comprising silicic acid onto the seed grains coated with the binder, thereby obtaining seed grains coated with a covering layer.
The invention additionally relates to the use of silicic acid as a component of the covering layer of granulated seeds in order to improve the germinability of the seeds. The invention further relates to granulated seeds comprising seed grains coated with a covering layer, said seeds being characterized in that the covering layer comprises silicic acid and the silicic acid is distributed within the entire covering layer.
