How to grow Craspedia seeds
Sow Craspedia seeds indoors approximately 4 - 6 weeks before the last frost is expected. Sow the flower seeds on the surface and lightly cover with peat moss or sand. Don't bury the seeds too deeply because they need light for germination.
Transplant the seedlings when there are at least 2 sets of true leaves. Craspedia plants prefer full sun and gritty, well-drained soil and are especially tolerant of poor soil and drought.
Craspedia flower seed can also be sown directly outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Prepare a seed bed with loosed soil and weed free, Sow seeds directly on the surface and lightly sprinkle peat moss or sand on top. Keep soil moist until germination.
For a long vase life, harvest craspedia flowers in the morning, choosing blooms that are fully saturated with a mustard yellow color. Refresh vase water frequently.
