DAYS TO GERMINATION:
7-14 days
SOWING CALENDULA SEEDS:
Starting Indoors: Start in containers 4-6 weeks before last spring frost. Keep at about 55-65°F.
Starting Outdoors: Recommended. Direct sow in early to mid-spring, just before the last average frost, and again in midsummer for fall bloom; early autumn only in mild winter areas.

FERTILIZER: An inch of compost or an organic flower fertilizer can be scratched in or mixed into soil for containerized plants.
DISEASES AND PESTS: May be susceptible to powdery mildew—prevent by growing in a location that has good air circulation. If mildew is detected, treat with an organic fungicide. Snails and slugs may damage young seedlings. If these pests are present, treat the surrounding soil with iron phosphate pellets.
