How to grow Dahlia Seeds
Starting Indoors: Start the seeds indoors about 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date in your area. Plant the seeds in seed trays or small pots filled with seed starting mix.
Planting: Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil and lightly press them into the soil. Do not cover the seeds with more soil as they need light to germinate.
Warmth and Moisture: Place the seed trays in a warm location with temperatures around 21-24°C. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
Germination: Dahlias seeds can take 7-21 days or longer to germinate. Keep soil moist during this time.
Transplanting: Once the seedlings have developed several sets of true leaves and the danger of frost has passed, they can be transplanted into larger pots or directly into the garden.
Outdoor Care: Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil for planting dahlias.
Maintenance: Water the dahlias regularly, especially during dry periods. Mulching around the plants can help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Blooming: With proper care, dahlias grown from seeds will start to bloom in late summer or early fall, depending on the variety.
